Book Cover Illustration Completed  NEW

Play it by Ear is non-fiction book written by a Psychologist and Professional Musician. The author draws from both avenues to help his patients learn to better communicate and form friendships using "the jam session" as a metaphor. I enjoyed working with the author and publishers to create the cover for their publication.

Upcoming Exhibit  NEW

One of my paintings has been accepted in the Montage IX exhibit at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art. The exhibit runs from June 20 through September 12. Opening night is June 20. Visit the museum site for more details.

Center for Civil and Human Rights Exhibit  UPDATED

Ground was broken this summer for the new Center for Civil and Human Rights. The museum will be located between the Aquarium and The World of Coke in downtown Atlanta.

As part of the city’s “60 Days of Progress…10 Days of Recognition Atlanta Honors the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” an exhibit and silent auction is planned to raise money for the Center. The exhibit “Learn, Promote, Defend” will be at the Mason Murer Gallery on December 10, 2008. I am thrilled that my painting “Freedom to Travel” has been accepted for the exhibit.

UPDATED 2009    Museum staff selected my painting to be reproduced as a billboard to promote the opening of the new museum. The billboard will be someplace along the interstate as construction nears completion. More details to come.

Solo Exhibit Reviewed in AJC   2008

My solo exhibit “A Spoonful of Sugar” at The Seen Gallery in Decatur, GA closed on September 17th. It exceeded expectations and I am grateful to everyone for their support and interest in my work. I am particularly pleased with the exhibit’s review by Jerry Cullen of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. If you missed it in print, it is online – simply click here.

The gallery has retained several pieces from the exhibit, so if you are in the Oakhurst neighborhood, please stop by. New pieces will be available at the gallery in December – they will be modestly priced for the Holiday season. Gallery hours and directions are available at The Seen Gallery (theseengallery.com).

Public Art Exhibit Lil’ Chicken   2008

Inspired by the Big Chicken landmark in Marietta, Georgia, the Junior League of Marietta/Cobb County developed a program for local artists to decorate miniature replicas to raise money for non-profit organizations.

My Chicken, “Turn Right at the Chicken,” was among 16 selected for sponsorship. The concept is based on navigational scenarios. If you ask someone for directions in Marietta, they are likely to begin with “when you get to the Big Chicken, turn….” It was great fun to paint such a familiar and silly form!

“Turn Right at the Chicken” is on display on the West side of the Marietta Square, directly in front of the store, “Doodlebugs.” It will remain there until late fall when all the chickens will be auctioned to raise additional money.

Note 9-28: Several chickens were vandalized over the weekend, mine sustained damage and will be temporarily removed for repairs.

Public Art Commission in Anchorage, Alaska   2008

In the fall of 2007, I was awarded a public art project from Anchorage, Alaska to create a painting for the lobby of the new Port Security Building. The project was funded by the 1% for Art Program of the Economic and Community Development Office.

The concept of my painting, “Beckoning” is a nautical scene relative to the port’s activities. The figures represent the various cultures, past and present that have impacted the Anchorage area. Rather than embarking on their travels via boats, people travel on aquatic wildlife native to the Alaskan coast – whales, seals and walrus.
